Along with her stage appearances, LuLu is in great demand as a lecturer and teacher. Her high energy and relentless discipline for continuous education has taken her time and talent to such professional associations as National Cosmetology Association (NCA), and as a founding member of the prestigious Professional Beauty Association (PBA), formerly (TSA), Board of Directors and past First Vice President. This dedication has earned her an induction into the prestigious family of Intercoiffure America.
LuLu’s hair creations have appeared editorially in over sixty issues of leading international fashion journals. Her work was recently featured in the Latin magazines, Salon Plus and Vibra Salon also in Elle Magazine as the Best Color Salon in the Southwest. LuLu’s The Salon and Day Spa was recognized among the top 200 fastest growing salons in Salon Today magazine. Her salon was awarded the Hispanic Heritage Business of the Year. The most recent honor bestowed to LuLu was the Henry B. Gonzales Award presented to her by Congressman Nick Lampson. Finally she was honored to do the 1st Lady’s hair, Laura Bush, on her visit to Galveston for the commissioning of the USS Texas submarine and in on call for the many actors and artists who perform at The Grand 1894 Opera House.
Her professional alignments as a platform artist combined with her conception and execution of total trend releases and technical systems development has been contracted by such leading manufactures as Zoto’s, Wella, Matrix, and the Latino Fashion Group. Lulu was instrumental in developing the Matrix CRAFT Cutting System and currently uses the CRAFT as a standard of training for her staff. Lulu’s latest association is as an educator and platform artist with the Artistic Council of Evolve.
Her staff serves a large and full spectrum of clientele at her recently renovated contemporary salon. LuLu’s the Salon, Inc. in Galveston is a 4200 sq. ft. full-service salon and is in its 36th year of business.
